The Unique or the Strange Toyota Yaris?

By Haley on December 1, 2009

Toyota Yaris HybridWhen it comes to the Toyota name brand it is reasonably easy to assume all vehicles produced are as innovative and mandatory as this economy requires. One of those requirements began when the prices for gas began to sky-rocket and produce an unreasonable amount every month just for the required errands and acts of life. This is when the introduction of the hybrids came out, and it seemed everyone wanted to jump on the band-wagon. Suddenly there also seemed to be Ford Escape hybrids, Chevy Malibu hybrids, every car seemed to not be credible unless it was a hybrid.

With the Toyota symbol emblazoned on the front it almost seems to be a reminder of all the excellent safety features that seem uncommon for its class: the roomy interior, cute exterior design, and excellent gas mileage.

Although, even as this car has all these great advantages to it, couldn't it be assumed that it's size and unique design could be a disadvantage? It seems critics agree by how they draw negatives from the spartan cabin design, the awkward driving position it puts you in, the noticeable driving noise, as well as the unusual center placement for the instrument panel.

Has Toyota taken this unique design too far? Has it's special features hindered instead of advanced Toyota sales? That's for you to decide--we just make the cars.
